Spring is finally here!
With the mountain of content that exists about spring cleaning, it’s easy to get lost in how you can better clean and organize your home or workspace this year, but there are a few areas that we think are often overlooked. This spring let’s clean more than just our homes.
Your Headspace
Today and always, your mental health is extremely important. Coming out of the gloomy winter and into spring, many of us may be feeling like we need a reset and refresh on our mindset. Spring brings about so much growth and rebirth in our environments, and it can be incredibly rewarding to reflect this internally.
The best and easiest way to clean up your headspace this spring is by adopting habits that promote a healthy mind. This can look as simple as just taking time out of your week to do something for yourself, like read or go for a hike. Hobbies like journaling, meditation, and exercise are all proven methods to relieve stress if you aren’t sure where to start.
Your 2023 Goals
Making sure you have achievable and up to date goals is a great way to prevent burnout and keep you motivated throughout 2023. As the year progresses, we may realize that some of the goals we set on New Year’s may have been a little over ambitious, while others were far too small and have already been met in the first quarter. Spring is a great time to revisit and clean up our goals with the new knowledge we have gaining during the first quarter.
When revising your goals, ask yourself:
• Is this something that is still relevant to me and my overall plan for the year?
• Is it attainable for me to accomplish this goal within the remainder of the year?
• If I have already achieved this goal, what is a new milestone I can set for myself for this year?
Your Homeowner’s or Renter’s Insurance
Spring cleaning is typically home-focused, but what about cleaning up the policy that protects that home? Performing an insurance review is a great way to clean up this spring! You may be asking what exactly an insurance review is. Allow us to elaborate. An insurance review is the process of doing a deep dive into the details of what your policy covers.
You can do your review alone, or by enlisting the help of an insurance agent and going over the details of your policy with them. An agent can use their expertise to help you decide if what you have is right for your unique family and home. They can also offer additional coverage that they see may be of interest to you.
Having an up-to-date insurance policy that is tailored to your needs is incredibly important for the safety of your home and family. It’s a great idea to review your coverage on a regular schedule as well as after large life events like adding a member to your family, moving, or changes in employment.
In addition to adjusting your coverage if needed It is also important to locate insurance documents and make sure that they are safe, accessible, and organized. You want to make sure these documents are easy to find when you need them most.
Lastly, this is also a great time to inventory your home. This inventory will be used to replace the items or reimburse you should they be lost or damaged in an emergency. You can do this with just pen and paper or with the help of your smartphone through an app or simply through photos and videos. You’ll want to document large and small items making note of what the items are, where you purchased them, and any other relevant information like the make and model.
Spring cleaning doesn’t have to just be about organizing our linen closet or garage. It’s important to focus on cleaning up other areas of our lives as well. We hope this spring we have inspired you to clean more than just your home.
