Preparedness tip: Back up vital documents

September is National Preparedness Month. It’s a good time to look at disaster supply kits and communication plans and refresh any outdated supplies or information. If you have not yet established your preparedness plan let us assist you. Use our helpful Emergency Preparedness Plan document. We developed this document back in April and we’re taking some time before National PrepareAthon Day (September 30th) to re-evaluate our plans and refresh our kits.

After you’ve completed your emergency preparedness plan for you and your family, take the time to ensure all your important and vital documents are virtually backed up. If a disaster were to happen, your recovery process could be less overwhelming by knowing that all your family’s vital information is virtually backed up.

Some important items to digitize may include:

  • Birth/Death/Marriage Certificates
  • Insurance Policies
  • Property Deeds
  • Military Records
  • Mortgage Papers
  • Social Security Card(s)
  • Vehicle Registration(s)/Title(s)

Adjusters International has a great article with a plan to get you started with digitizing your documents. Read the article here : http://adjustersinternational.com/importance-site-virtual-backup/
