Here at CRS we love to celebrate the 4th of July, we’ve been planning our company BBQ and swapping favorite holiday memories all week! Apart from the food and family we all agree that the best part of the Fourth is the fireworks! Fireworks are a fun and beautiful way to kick off our Independence Day celebrations, they ignite our patriotic spirits and are a traditional way to celebrate our independence, but they’re also incredibly dangerous! On average, 200 people go to the emergency room everyday with firework related injuries in the month of July. We’ve decided to share some firework safety tips to keep our families safe this holiday. Firework Safety Tips:
- Make sure fireworks are legal in your area before buying or using them
- Never allow young children to play with or light fireworks
- Keep a bucket of water nearby in case of a fire or other mishap
- Never try to relight or pick up fireworks that have not ignited fully
- Never point or throw fireworks at another person
- Be extra careful with sparklers! They’re second highest cause of fireworks injuries that require hospitalization. Most of these injuries occur among preschool-age children. Sparklers are dangerous because they burn at a temperature hot enough to melt gold (1,800 degrees F!)
- Never place any part of your body directly over a fireworks device when lighting the fuse. Back up to a safe distance immediately after lighting fireworks.
